The Kiss - A Ghost Story

By Desdmona

This story contains sexually explicit scenes.

“Caroline,” the voice whispered.

Caroline opened her eyes and blinked. “Yes?”

“Caroline.”

She sat up in bed, but she couldn’t see a thing. Her room was as dark as a tomb. Ever since she moved to the country, the nights were incredibly dark. The covers fell away, exposing her breasts to the damp, cool air. “Who’s there?” she said.

She sat and listened.

But there was nothing. Not a sound.

Semen oozed inside her. She shivered, pressed her legs together, and settled back down under the covers. She reached out and fumbled around for him. She found his solid body, sleeping on his side, facing away from her. A nice, naked man. What was his name again? Roger. She couldn’t remember his last name. Roger Something.

“What did you say, Roger?” she whispered.

But Roger didn’t move. He breathed slowly and evenly.

Was the voice a dream? Caroline curled back into the cozy cocoon of her bed. She put her hands on his back. Roger had a nice, muscular back. His body was warm and firm. She slid a hand down to his naked butt. Did Roger talk in his sleep?

Maybe she’d just had too much to drink again.

Caroline laid her head on the pillow and closed her eyes.

She woke to the sound of feet thudding on the floor. Caroline’s head ached, but she’d felt worse.

She forced her eyes open. Roger was walking around, one of her new teal towels wrapped around his waist. His hair was wet. She smiled and watched him from the warmth of her bed. He wandered around, bending down like a giant construction crane, picking up his clothes: white socks, a plain green T-shirt, a pair of faded button-fly jeans. Roger Something didn’t wear underwear, she remembered. Last night, she had unbuttoned his fly to find his hard penis right there.

He stopped and smiled at her.

Roger Something had a nice smile. All those white teeth. Such a nice mouth. She tried to remember kissing him last night, but she couldn’t seem to remember. Had they not kissed? He was definitely better-looking than most. And he had a nice body, too. She liked his chest. Those cute little male nipples.

The sharp br-r-r-ing! of the phone made her jump. Caroline groaned, gave Roger Something what she hoped was a longing look, and picked up the receiver.

“It’s your mother,” the voice on the other end said.

“Hi, Mom,” Caroline sighed. She checked the clock. “What are you doing up so early?”

“I’m taking your father to the airport in a few minutes. I told you, he’s going to Las Vegas for the week.”

“Sorry, I forgot.”

“Did you go out again last night?” her mother asked.

“Yes.”

“So I take it you’re not alone?”

Her mother had been a lot easier to talk to when she was clueless. Too bad she had developed an uncanny ability to detect when Caroline had a man with her. “It’s OK, Mom, I’m alone,” she lied.

“Really?”

“What did you want to talk about, Mom?”

There was a pause. “I wish you wouldn’t run around so much,” her mother said.

“We can only have one person in the family with that reputation, huh Mom?”

“I suppose you mean your father? This is a business trip.”

“Yeah, I know. They all are.” Caroline sighed and pressed her palm against her forehead. Her headache seemed worse. “I’m sorry, Mom. It’s been a long week.”

“I don’t know why you insist on assuming the worst about your father.”

“I don’t want to talk about this again, Mom. Let’s forget it.”

“It wouldn’t hurt for you to give him the benefit of the doubt sometimes.”

Just then, Roger’s towel dropped to the floor, and he was naked. Caroline lurched, felt a sudden clutch in her chest. She hadn’t seen him like this last night. All that bare, male skin. And his penis. Like a baby bird in a nest of black hair. Circumcised. How long was it? She was never much good at estimating size. Soft like that, it was maybe three inches long. Or four. Or two. Who could tell?

She had tried to measure a man’s penis once, but when she brought the ruler into bed, they had a small disagreement over how to measure it. She threw the ruler across the room before he had a chance to get too angry about it. She tried to remember what happened after that. Was he the man who lost his erection before they had a chance to have sex? Caroline thought maybe he was. But that was a while ago; she could be mis-remembering.

Roger looked at her and grinned.

Caroline smiled and felt the warmth building. She would dearly love to eat him up. She put her fingers between her legs and gave her pussy a playful pat.

“Are you sure you’re alone?” her mother said.

Caroline ran a finger between her outer lips. She was all moist and slippery inside. “I’m sorry Mom. You were right. Somebody’s here.”

Roger pulled his pants up. She grinned as he tucked his penis down inside his pants and buttoned himself up. It would be nice to unbutton him again. Like unwrapping a present. She licked her lips and slid her finger alongside her clitoris.

He slipped his T-shirt on, pulling it down over his chest. Caroline bit her bottom lip and hummed as he tucked his shirt into his pants.

He gave her a big, wonderful smile. “You were great,” he whispered. “See ya.” He turned and opened the bedroom door.

She covered the mouthpiece with her hand. “Hey! Call me?”

“Sure, babe,” he said. And he was gone.

Wait a minute. Had she given him her number? No, Caroline didn’t think she had. And she didn’t even know his last name!

“Mom, I gotta go,” and she threw down the phone before her mother could answer. She grabbed his damp towel off the floor and held it to her naked breasts and dashed downstairs. He was already out the door. She ran to the window. His old white pick-up truck was just backing down the driveway.

Caroline sighed. Well, at least Roger Something knew where she lived. Maybe he would stop by some day. Or maybe they would bump into each other in town.

Yeah, right.

Her head hurt, she was naked, and she was cold. She turned around and trudged back upstairs. The phone lay off the hook, beeping on the floor. She supposed she was going to have to call her mother back and apologize. A great start to yet another fucking weekend.

Caroline paid the cover charge and stepped through the door. It was dark inside, the music hammered heavily, and the air was warm and humid and smelled of smoke. The crowd of bodies bounced on the small dance floor.

She snaked through the people to the bar and ordered a tequila. She wiggled up on a barstool and scanned the room.

There were more men than women and a definite prowling atmosphere. Caroline felt warm and comfortable – it was her kind of place. She watched a man approach a woman and ask her to dance, but the woman shook her head. The guy looked like a wet puppy as he retreated to his own table.

She continued to look around and spotted a man walking her way. Tall, broad shoulders, dark hair, a firm jaw. He wore a subtle smile. He was dressed nicely, in a sport coat, slacks, and black shoes. As he got closer to the bar, she caught his eye and smiled at him. Caroline sat up straight on her stool.

He leaned against the bar and ordered a beer.

“Having a good time?” Caroline asked with as suggestive a tone as she could muster.

“Yes,” he smiled, “I am.” He turned and looked at her, and Caroline fell instantly in love with those deep blue eyes.

“Who knows?” she said. “Maybe this is your lucky day.”

His grin wavered a little bit, but she had his full attention now. This one was a catch, a real catch. “What do you think?” Caroline said. “Do you want to go some place quiet?”

The man squinted at her. “Just like that?”

Caroline reached out and touched his hand and looked him right in the eye. “We could have some real fun.”

The man sat back a little and Caroline felt a prickle in the back of her neck. There was something about his expression that made her face feel hot.

“Yes, I’m sure we could have some fun, if I understand what you’re suggesting. But I don’t think I’m looking for a one night stand.”

Caroline was stunned. She had never been shot down before. At least never so abruptly. “What?”

“I’m sure you’re a very nice girl, but I’m just here to have a little fun and meet some new people. But don’t worry. Someone will jump at that offer real soon. It just ain’t going to be me.”

“Not pretty enough to fuck, huh?” She could hear her own voice raising up, turning shrill.

“I’m sorry,” he said, and he stood up to leave.

“Wait!”

He stopped and turned back towards her, his expression impatient. Caroline didn’t know what to say. She’d never had to work to get laid. What should she say?

“I give great head,” she said.

His face hardened into a stiff mask. “I’ll take your word for that,” he said, shaking his head. “Maybe I’ll see you later.”

And he was gone.

Caroline’s face burned. She fought back a sudden urge to sob. She couldn’t believe she had made such a fool of herself. She looked around to see if anyone was watching. There were a few people looking her way. Had they seen her get rejected? Who looked like a wet puppy now?

I give great head? Oh brother, Caroline, that was rich.

She grabbed her purse and shot off to the ladies room. Thankfully it wasn’t crowded. She stood in front of a sink and checked her hair and makeup. Every strand was still in place and not a bit of shine had risen up on her face. She pretended to touch up her lipstick and tried to regain her composure.

What was wrong with that guy? Maybe he was gay or something.

No, of course he wasn’t gay. And she looked fine. So what was the problem? Why didn’t he want to go home with her?

Caroline sighed and snapped her purse shut. She practiced her most dazzling smile in the mirror and caught another woman looking at her. Caroline smirked like an adversary before the big hunt. The woman smirked back. It really was just a game, Caroline thought. A game she was good at. Caroline took a deep breath, turned confidently on her heel, and strode back into the club.

Even before she got back to the bar, another man spotted her. They made eye contact like hunter and prey and watched each other as their courses collided in front of the bar. She smiled at him, and he smiled nervously back. This guy was more like it. Easy pickings.

They squeezed together between the bodies at the bar. Caroline said, “Hi,” making sure he wouldn’t chicken out before they got together.

“Hi,” he said. “Um, do you want to dance?”

Caroline looked carefully at the guy. A little on the short side, but he seemed OK. Hair a bit of a mess. And dressed maybe a little too casually for this crowd.

“What’s your name?” she asked.

“Peter.”

She held out her hand and they shook. “I’m Caroline.”

“Hi.”

“Hi.”

They nodded at one another while the music blared.

“Well,” Peter said.

Caroline sighed. A real conversationalist Peter was.

“Look,” she said, leaning forward, “why don’t we get out of here. Do you have a car? You can follow me back to my place.”

Peter did a double take. A real, honest to goodness double take. Caroline almost laughed. “Really?” Peter said.

And then Caroline couldn’t help it. She laughed. She supposed in an odd way, he was sort of cute. “Yes, really.” She reached out and took his hand. “Come on.”

She had definitely screwed worse. They strolled arm-in-arm out of the bar.

They drove to Caroline’s house in the country. She had not lived there long. The house had recently come back up on the market and the realtor had reluctantly shown her the place at Caroline’s insistence. The previous owner, a single man, had mysteriously disappeared, so many people were put off by the history of the house. But Caroline was immediately drawn to the old building. It sat way off the road with old trees scattered in front of it, like wooden soldiers guarding a fortress.

She led Peter through the downstairs rooms and up to the bedroom. He was very kind, commenting on how nice the house looked and her good taste in furnishings. “I’ve always liked the country,” he said. “I’d like to move out here some time myself.” His chatter seemed to be a little out of nervousness. Obviously he hadn’t had many of these kinds of encounters. Perhaps she had lucked out with this Peter fellow. He was a lot nicer than most of them.

They quickly stripped and tumbled onto the thick mattress. His penis jutted up, hard and dancing. She grinned and gathered him up in her hands. Peter sure looked a lot more masculine with his pants off! She bent his hard-on this way and that, pointing it upwards.

“Do you want a kiss?” she grinned at him and stuck her tongue out, teasing the tip of his penis.

“Oh, man, Caroline!” he gasped. She loved tending to a man like this, having his cock in her hands, in her mouth.

She gathered up a little spit and enveloped him with her mouth, drawing her lips up slowly. That first guy in the bar didn’t know what he was missing!

“Oh, jeez!” he said, and his fingers played in the hair near her temples. Caroline warmed at his touch and from the reaction of his penis. She fondled his balls and licked and sucked his shaft. She dropped down until his cock pressed against the back of her throat and his pubic hair tickled her lips.

“Oh God, Caroline,” he moaned.

She took her mouth off and pumped his cock in her fist. She stared at his face, and he grimaced and panted out of control. She stroked him and crawled around until she could whisper in his ear. “Cum in my mouth,” she said. She jerked his cock up and down in her tight fist. He gasped repeatedly for air, and she moved back down and sucked his rod deeply between her lips. His hard head pressed against the roof of her mouth, she slurped and gulped and sucked hard, her tongue working. He swelled intensely as his entire body went rigid.

“Fuck!” he yelled, “Fuck!” And then he let loose. Caroline glowed with accomplishment. She relaxed just a little, sucked a little more, and felt the hot spurts against her tongue and the insides of her cheeks.

The force diminished, and she let his cum dribble out of her mouth, coating his satiated prick with its own lotion. All red and spent, it drooped in her hand.

She covered his cock with her hand, loving the feel of it returning to its flaccid state, soft and gooey. She nuzzled his bellybutton, licked upward and nibbled his nipple, and snuggled up close. He still breathed hard, and sweat trickled on his brow. He was adorable. What a lucky find!

“I love you,” Caroline said. And she instantly regretted it. Where had that come from? What was she saying?

Peter’s brow furrowed. “Huh?” he said.

Caroline felt her heart drop. Why had she said that? She didn’t love this guy, she barely even knew him. And he sure as hell didn’t love her.

“I’m sorry. Never mind,” Caroline said.

“Are you all right?” he asked. “You look funny.”

“I’m fine.” She sat up and shook her hair out. He had the sheets all twisted around in his legs. “I think it would be better if you went home now.”

He opened his mouth as if to protest, but he snapped it shut. “OK, whatever you want.”

He turned on the light and slipped out of bed. Caroline knew she was screwing something up. Peter wasn’t a bad guy – she should probably make an effort to see him again. But she didn’t care. She didn’t love him. He didn’t love her. Meaningless sex was all they had in common.

A low, barely audible voice from nowhere penetrated the night: “Caroline.”

“What?” Peter turned and looked at her.

Where had it come from? It was a male voice, deep and resonant. Was it a tricky echo? “What did you say?” Caroline said.

“I didn’t say anything,” Peter said.

The eerie voice repeated, this time a little louder. “Caroline.”

“What is that?” Peter said. His eyes darted around the room.

“Did you hear it too?” Caroline said.

Peter nodded.

“I’ve been hearing it sometimes lately,” Caroline said. “At night.”

“Yeah?”

“It sounds like voices.”

“It sounds like it’s saying your name,” Peter said.

“I know.”

“What is it?”

“I don’t know.”

“Is it the wind or something?”

“I don’t know.”

“Weird.”

“Yeah,” she said, “it’s pretty weird.”

They sat and looked around, but the room was quiet.

“Well, I suppose I should go,” Peter said. “Unless you want me to stay.”

Caroline smiled. “No, it’s late. You can go.”

“I had fun. I’m sorry if I made you mad.”

“You didn’t make me mad.”

“Good.” He smiled weakly. “Are you sure you’re all right here?”

“Yes, I’m fine,” Caroline said.

“OK. Maybe I’ll see you around.”

“Yeah, maybe.”

“Bye.”

And he closed the door behind him.

Caroline sighed. Nice guy. A little too nice probably. She knew she wouldn’t see him again.

But he had heard the sounds too! She wasn’t dreaming after all!

She strode into the bathroom and splashed her face. She looked at her reflection in the mirror. Her mouth was swollen from wrapping it around his penis. She dabbed her face with a hand towel. It was soft against her lips and she rubbed it back and forth.

She realized he hadn’t kissed her.

She stopped off at Ria’s house on the way home. Ria complained because her husband was working the graveyard shift, and their sex life had ground to a stop. Caroline gave her friend the quick rundown of her latest conquests.

“Why do you do it?” Ria asked, shaking her head as she did almost every time.

“I like them,” Caroline said. She stifled a sigh. They had had this conversation often enough. “I can’t help it if I like men.”

“You should be more careful. Thank God you use condoms.”

Well, in fact, Caroline hadn’t insisted on condoms for more than a year, but she couldn’t tell Ria that. She found that she liked the feel of their semen inside her. And she hated disposing of condoms afterwards. She also noticed that ever since she stopped using condoms, the men stayed longer. They even stayed the night sometimes. Not always, but usually. At least half the time.

“I’ve been hearing these weird noises,” Caroline said. “At night, up in the bedroom.”

“What kind of noises?”

“It sounds like voices, sort of, well a voice anyway. The guy last night, Peter, he heard it too.”

“Voices? What do they say?”

“It sounds like my name.”

Ria laughed. “Have you moved into a haunted house, Caroline?”

“I’m not sure. Maybe.”

“Don’t be ridiculous,” Ria scoffed. “It’s probably the wind or something out there in that big old house.”

Caroline laughed too, but she was a little put off by Ria. Sure, it may sound weird, but she still wanted to talk about it. Even if it did seem weird. Especially since it seemed weird.

“Caroline?” Ria interrupted her thoughts.

“Oh, I’m sorry, what did you say?”

“I asked if you had talked to your mother recently?”

Caroline squirmed in her seat a little. Months ago, Ria had seen Caroline’s father with his very young secretary. He had told her mother he was working late. Caroline knew it was just one more in a long line of affairs. And since then, Ria never failed to ask after Caroline’s mother.

“Yeah, she called again the other morning.” She allowed Ria to change the subject.

But what about that voice? Had she really just imagined it? Could it really have been the wind? Had she and Peter both imagined the voice?

Caroline giggled at something he said. Had he said something funny? She wasn’t sure but it seemed funny anyway.

“Man, Caroline your pussy is hot!”

She reached for him, but lying back like this, her fingernails barely grazed his thigh. He towered over her, upright, on his knees, between her legs. His sweaty hands held her bent knees for support as he hammered her with thrust after thrust.

She imagined an electrical cord attached to his hips, giving him this unstoppable energy. Her legs were tiring, but it felt good.

He fell forward and caught himself with his arms. Sweat dripped on her face and chest. He still didn’t stop.

Oh, this is better, Caroline thought.

She wrapped her legs around his hips and hooked them behind him. His pubic bone mashed against her clitoris. She grabbed the hair above his ears with both hands and used it as her grip.

“Ahhhh ... ” His howl signaled he was finally climaxing, and it was all Caroline needed. She arched and cried out, and the spasms of orgasm shook her. Spurts of warm liquid filled her and oozed out and saturated their connection.

Caroline’s body went slack; she lay beneath him like a wet rag.

She was so tired and could barely keep her eyes open. The fast and frivolous sex and the Long Island Ice Teas had combined to make a marvelous sedative.

He flopped over on the mattress beside her, and Caroline sidled up next to him. The flesh of the solid arm in front of her was adorned with a pattern of bluish-black ink.

“What is that?” She heard the slurring in her own voice. Damn it Caroline, you drink too much.

“Wow! You are one great fuck! Huh? Oh that, that’s a tattoo I got a few years back,” he said, running the back of his fingers down across her cheek. A dreamy weight settled over her.

“Thank you.” She preened and nestled up closer to his side, his massive biceps serving as a comfortable pillow. “Is it what I think it is?”

“I got it in Nassau, at some dive where a woman convinced me I’d need ... ” Caroline heard his voice, but she could no longer make out his words. She closed her eyes and felt herself drifting away.

She woke up and felt the room spinning. Too much to drink again, and she was afraid she would puke. Her stomach punished her and she had to get up or she knew she would be sick.

She swallowed and tried to breathe deep. She couldn’t get enough oxygen, and she felt cold and clammy.

Where was the guy? Didn’t she have a man in bed with her? He had a tattoo on his arm, a skull and crossbones or something, what happened to him?

She shook her head. “Caroline, you are such a fuck-up,” she murmured to herself.

If there had been a man there, he was gone. The house was so quiet it rang in her ears.

She stumbled to the bathroom and forced herself to vomit. The ugly, acid taste filled her mouth and stung her nose. She couldn’t bare to look at herself in the mirror as she rinsed her mouth out.

But she felt a little better, and the spinning had stopped. She didn’t even feel sleepy any more. But she knew she needed to rest. She lay back down, pulled the covers to her chin, and closed her eyes.

“Caroline,” the voice said.

Caroline jerked up straight and adrenaline shot into her bloodstream. The voice again! “What?” Caroline answered. Her heart hammered in her chest, and her muscles felt taut and ready. She was amazed how alert she felt. She ran her hands down her thighs and grabbed her knees. She looked all around, her eyes darting into the corner of the room, over to the dresser, back to the door. There was nothing.

“Caroline,” the voice continued.

“Yes?”

“Caroline. I can love you.”

A cold breeze blew against her face, and Caroline shivered. Her nipples stood up, and she pulled her hands up between her legs. “Who are you?” Caroline said.

“I can love you.”

“What do you mean?”

“I want to love you.”

Caroline was at a loss for what to say. “But ... but you’re not real.”

“You can make me real, Caroline.”

“Where are you?”

“Its dark here. All around me is dark. But I can see you.”

Caroline breathed in deeply, and she felt herself relax. “How long have you been here?”

“I see you. I see you with your men. All those men.”

She blushed, and then she felt stupid for blushing. “I like them,” she said. “I like men.”

“They don’t love you, Caroline. You don’t even kiss them. Kiss me, Caroline. Make me real.”

“What do you mean, make you real?”

“They don’t love you like I love you, Caroline.”

“Was there a man here? Tonight?”

“Kiss me, Caroline.”

“Did he leave?”

“I love you, Caroline,” the voice faded away.

She knew it was gone. None of its answers made much sense; it just went on and on about loving her. What was that suppose to mean? Caroline didn’t need love, especially from a voyeuristic apparition.

But she did need answers. Who was he? Why had he chosen her? And why was he being so nice to her?

Caroline stayed home and cooked herself dinner. She didn’t have anything alcoholic to drink. She needed to be sober. She needed to figure out the voice.

She pattered around the house and listened intently for any sounds. She heard the occasional creak of hardwood floors and ice dropping from the automatic icemaker – the usual house noises and nothing more.

She yawned. She didn’t want to fall asleep, not just yet. She poured herself a cup of coffee, and she snuggled up on the couch with a new novel. She read a few lines, but couldn’t focus on the words. And she fell promptly to sleep.

Out of the darkness it formed, and Caroline stared at her father’s face. His mouth was moving and she tried to make out the words he was saying but no sound came out. He reached towards her with outstretched arms, trying to hug her. “What Dad? What are you saying?” He moved closer and his arms pulled her in and wrapped her up and he felt so warm, so very very warm. But then his embrace hardened, strengthened, and she knew she would be crushed and Caroline felt his warm flesh turn into icy bone. She screamed and pushed away only to see a bare skull replacing her father’s face and there were no words, only laughing. A horrid, laughing skull.

Caroline jerked awake, saw the light from the lamp, and realized she had been dreaming. She breathed deeply a few times. She took a swig from her stale cup of coffee and tried to shake off the nightmare.

“Kiss me, Caroline,” the voice said.

Caroline looked around. She tried to focus but couldn’t make out any form, human or otherwise.

“Love me, Caroline. Love me and make me real again.”

“But I don’t know how,” She rubbed her eyes and wrapped her arms around herself. She was cold.

“You just need to love me. Love me and kiss me and make me real.”

“Tell me how, tell me what you mean. Please!” Caroline could hear the desperation in her own voice.

But he was gone again.

Ria was already waiting outside at a table when Caroline got to The Cancun. It was sunny and warm and the outside tables were almost completely filled. Ria was drinking red wine and fiddling with the tiny white candle that was placed at the center of the table. The waiter came immediately after Caroline sat down. “Can I get you anything to drink?”

“A margarita.” Caroline shifted toward Ria. “I need a stiff drink.”

“Why, Caroline? What’s going on?”

“I’m not sure, really. It’s just the damn ghost keeps talking to me or haunting me or whatever you want to call it.”

“Talking to you? Like when you’re sleeping?”

“At first I thought I was dreaming. But I’m not the only one who heard it. And last night, it was so real. And the weirdest thing is, I wasn’t afraid! You’d think I’d be terrified about a ghost in the house, but he’s not that scary.”

“I read an article once about lucid dreaming,” Ria said.

“But this isn’t a dream,” Caroline said, her voice rising a little in frustration. “I’m wide awake when he talks to me.”

Ria’s eyes narrowed slightly. “What kinds of things does he say?”

“He tells me he loves me.”

“The ghost tells you he loves you?”

“Yeah. Isn’t that interesting?”

“Caroline, maybe you should cut back on the drinking a little.”

“He says his entire world is black except for me, and he loves me.”

“Caroline, don’t you see what’s happening? You’re looking for someone to love you, and you’ve conjured up this ghost.”

“I think I might be a portal or something. I’m the only real thing in his life. I’m his door to the real world.”

“Listen to what you’re saying Caroline! A portal? For God’s sake!”

She didn’t need any of Ria’s doubts and criticisms. Not today. “I can’t stay,” Caroline said, and she drained her margarita. “I just wanted to stop and say hi.”

“Caroline ... ”

“I’ll see you again on Friday, OK?”

Ria’s eyes darkened with concern. “Caroline, you’re scaring me! Are you OK?”

Caroline felt a little impatient. “I’m fine Ria, I just need to go.”

“Go where? Please, stay a little longer and let’s talk about this.”

Caroline saw the look of concern in Ria’s eyes; it nagged her a little. “I have things to do, Ria. I’ll talk to you soon.”

She left the restaurant feeling very alone. Her best friend thought she was crazy, her father was running around chasing young girls, and her mother was living in her own little fantasy world.

Maybe the voice was the only thing that made any sense in her life.

She stopped at the bar to have a short drink. She didn’t want to go home quite yet, and she could really use some company. Someone that wouldn’t make her think.

Five minutes later she had the man she wanted. He was solidly built with green eyes. And best of all, he was a man of few words. He said, “Let’s get out of here.” She offered her place, and they left.

He followed her up to her bedroom, neither of them speaking. No nervous chatter about how the house looked. They stripped mechanically and fell to the bed. His penis was flaccid, and she thought she would have to orchestrate the whole thing.

She reached for him, but his hand grabbed her wrist tightly and flung it back to the bed, pinning her to the mattress.

“Wait,” Caroline felt some alarm and tried to move.

“Wait for what?_ This _is what you wanted isn’t it?” His speech was slow and deliberate, and his spittle landed on her face.

“No, I... ”

Shut up bitch!” The palm of his hand landed squarely on her face. Caroline was stunned. She tried moving under him and felt his now hard prick against her belly.

“Leave her alone!” came the hissing voice.

He hesitated, and Caroline was able to squirm out from under him just a little.

“Ow! Ow!” he yelled, and he flailed with both hands in the darkness. “What the fuck was that!” He jumped up out of bed and almost stumbled to the floor. His cock had shrunken down to nearly nothing, and it looked absurd, wiggling around like a fat worm.

Caroline rolled out of bed on the other side and cowered down on the floor. “Stay away from me!” she screamed. “Do you hear me? Stay away!

There was an icy silence. The man just stood and panted, and Caroline huddled on the floor, watching him with tears in her eyes.

The voice came out of nowhere, loud and cold. “Do you want to _die?_”

“Who the fuck said that?!” the man yelled. And he suddenly spun clear around and was slammed face first into the wall.

“Fuck!” he yelled. “Fuck! What are you doing?”

“Do ... you ... want ... to ... _die?_” The voice was clear and strong and chilled Caroline to her soul.

The man spun away from the wall and ran towards the door. “Stay away from me!” he yelled.

She heard his hurried steps down the stairs and the slamming of the front door. And then, except for her fading hiccups, there was silence.

He had rescued her. She was safe.

“How did you do that? How did you hit him?”

“Caroline, I can’t allow another to hurt you. I need you,”

“I don’t know what else to say. Except thank you.”

“Say you will be mine, Caroline. Tell me you will be mine.”

“I... ”

“Trust me Caroline, trust me because only I can love you.”

Caroline hesitated. Oh my God, she thought, that man was really going to hurt me. What have I been doing? Am I crazy? What have I been doing with all these men?

I’m lucky I wasn’t killed.

But I’m OK, the voice saved me. I don’t know how, but he saved me. He saved me and he loves me.

“I love you Caroline, give yourself to me. Say it!”

She allowed him to coax her. This was exactly what she needed in her life. This was what she was missing. She heard her own voice weakly say, “Yes, yes. I will be yours.”

She waited for a response, but the room was still.

Caroline paced. The light of day seemed to take forever to dissipate. She wanted it to be night. She’d waited all night last night for him to return and he hadn’t. She wanted him to be near and to have the chance to talk with him again. When the phone rang she was tempted to just let it ring, but after the sixth ring, she knew it was her mother, so she gave in and answered.

“Yes, mother?”

“Who is this?” her mother said.

“It’s Caroline!” and Caroline laughed.

“It didn’t sound like you!” her mother said. “Are you going out tonight?”

“No, I think I’m going to stay home tonight.”

There was a long pause.

“Are you lying to me, Caroline?” her mother asked.

“No, Mom.”

“Are you feeling OK?”

Caroline looked at the stairs leading to the bedroom. The door was slightly ajar, and it was dark inside. “I’m feeling great, Mom. I just feel like going to bed early for a change.”

“Oh.”

“Quit worrying, will you Mom? I’m fine. Is Dad back yet?”

“He called to say he’d be home in three days.”

“Lots of business, I suppose.” Caroline tried to keep the sarcasm from her voice.

“You sound different.”

“I’m fine, Mom, I promise.”

“Will you call me tomorrow?”

“Sure, Mom. In fact, maybe we should get together tomorrow morning. I’ll buy you breakfast. How does that sound?”

Her mother spoke slowly. “That sounds good, Caroline. Great, even.”

“So I’ll call you tomorrow.”

“OK.”

“And Mom?”

“Yes, Caroline.”

“I love you.”

“I love you too, dear. Are you sure you’re alright?

“Yeah, mom I’m fine. See ya.”

Caroline hung up the phone. She looked again at the door to her bedroom. At least the telephone conversation had passed the time, and the oranges and yellows of sunset had given way to dusk. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly. She loosened the tie around her robe and stood up. The satin slipped off her shoulders and dripped down her body inch by inch until it fell to the floor at her feet. She was naked. Warm and naked.

She took the first step up towards her room.

The room was murky black and Caroline wondered if she should light a candle. She fidgeted with the linens on her bed. She waited.

Every nerve ending thrummed and she jumped with the first faint sound of deep breathing.

“You’re naked Caroline.” His voice was deep and penetrating.

“Is that alright?” She shuddered in spite of the warmth of the room.

“It suits you Caroline, soft and willing, open and vulnerable.”

“How does this work?” Caroline said. She was trembling. Her pussy already felt drenched.

“Just give yourself to me, Caroline and the rest will take care of itself.”

She felt stupid, but she lay back on the bed, her shoulders up on the pillows. She couldn’t see a thing. She tried to imagine that a man was there, but it seemed ridiculous.

“Can you see me?” she asked.

“You are so beautiful, Caroline.”

There was a tingling tightness in her chest. She knew he was there somewhere. She shut her eyes and imagined a body there, a real, physical body. With eyes closed tight, she spread her legs and reached her arms outward. OK, lover, come here, she thought.

“I love you, Caroline,” came his voice, loud and clear. Caroline nearly jumped at the closeness of him. Her eyes sprung open but the room remained opaquely dark. She reached for him, for something tangible to hold on to.

“Relax, Caroline.”

She took a deep breath and held it for long seconds and then slowly exhaled.

“Do that again, Caroline. Suck in the air around you.” She did as he told her to, and she suddenly felt warmth on her lips. Warmth that turned into pressure. Heavy breath against her skin.

It was happening! Just like he said it would! She opened her legs wider.

“Caroline!” he whispered and she felt something! A twitch, a prodding feeling inside her belly. Could it be? Could her lover really be coming to life?

“Caroline!” he said, and she felt him! She definitely felt him! She felt his cock inside her, felt him sliding in and filling her!

His cock was solidifying, the shaft pumping inside her, developing shape and ridges and weight. And she could see him! A smoky shadow right on top of her, a darkening presence.

“I love you, Caroline,” he said, his voice now metallically solid. He was completely inside her, and she was shockingly stimulated. The waves began to build, a swelling from within, and Caroline’s heart raced.

“I love you Caroline. Kiss me!” he hissed.

“Oh God!” she whispered. His black lips curled away from sharp, jagged teeth. Her body froze for an instant, her lungs froze, and her heart froze. And then with the cresting inside her, she teetered on the edge, and slipped over the precipice. “Oh God!” she was lost in the vehemence of the orgasm.

“And now, Caroline, you are mine!” He opened his mouth on her lips, covering them completely. She tried to twist away but she could barely move, he was too heavy, too strong, and she felt his cold tongue delve deep inside her throat. The ecstatic waves of climax continued to flow through her and her body arched involuntarily. She gulped frantically for air, his mouth clamped around hers, sealing it shut.

She could feel the muscles in her neck tightening, her eyes bulging. She tried to scream but no sound came out. She gurgled in the back of her throat and choked on his tongue. Her chest burned.

His body pressed against her and in her. His cock pierced her like an icicle, destroying her heat. His tongue reached his penis inside her. He was so real now. So physical. So complete. He filler her entire body with his ice.

And the commanding kiss ended.

Richard stared at the closing documents for his new country home. The house had been a real find. It came cheap because of some mystery surrounding the previous owner. Richard didn’t care about any mystery. The price was too good to pass up.

His eyes began to blur. It was time to quit for the night. He turned off the light and dragged himself up to bed. His body still ached from the rigors of moving.

He paused when he entered the bedroom. He got a whiff of a very feminine smell. Shaking his head, he reminded himself it had been way too long since he last got laid. It was about time he got off his ass and met someone.

The dim moon shined through the window, barely eking out vague shadows against the wall.

He flopped into bed and his eyes quickly shut. But sleep didn’t immediately come. He thought he heard the sound of breathing.

“Richard,” said a whispering voice. He opened his eyes and listened carefully.

“Richard,” the voice repeated.

“Who is there?” he asked.

“Richard,” she said, softly and seductively. “Kiss me, Richard, kiss me!”
