This privacy statement is applicable to the The Fish Tank World Wide Web site hosted at http://www.desdmona.com/.

1. PERSONAL INFORMATION. The Fish Tank gathers a limited amount of personally identifiable information on every member. For example, a member’s email address are required as part of the enrollment process. The Fish Tank will not provide any personal information to third parties without the member’s explicit consent.

Upon request, The Fish Tank will use reasonable efforts to allow users to update/correct personal information previously submitted which the user states is erroneous to the extent such activities will not compromise privacy or security interests. Also, upon a user’s request, The Fish Tank will use commercially reasonable efforts to functionally delete the user and his or her personal information from its database; however, it may be impossible to delete a user’s entry without some residual information because of backups and records of deletions.

2. PRIVATE MESSAGES. The Fish Tank includes a mechanism for sending private messages to other Fish Tank members. These messages are signed with the sender’s “Display Name.” Messages and are only visible to the sender and receiver of the message. Private messages are stored in The Fish Tank’s database.

Once a message has been sent, members should be aware that any personal information they disclose in a private message could be collected, correlated, and forwarded by the receiver of the message. This may result in unsolicited message from other posters or third parties. Such activities are beyond the control of The Fish Tank.

Members also should be aware that The Fish Tank does not use a secure or encrypted connection with members. Account numbers, credit card numbers, or other sensitive information should never be sent in Fish Tank private messages.

Fish Tank administrators reserve the right to monitor all private messages.

Private messages are sent and received without revealing any a member’s email address. For this reason, we encourage members who are concerned about their privacy to use the private message mechanism for correspondence with other members.

If users do not wish to receive private messages from other members, they may disable the private message mechanism.

3. E-MAIL. In an effort to control the spread of viruses and unsolicited commercial email, The Fish Tank will not display member email addresses on The Fish Tank website.

The Fish Tank site provides a mechanism for users to send email to other members. Email messages originating from The Fish Tank are sent to the email address we have on file for the receiving member, but the receiver’s email address is not revealed to the user sending the email message. BY SENDING A PRIVATE EMAIL MESSAGE, THE USER SENDING A MESSAGE REVEALS HIS OR HER OWN EMAIL ADDRESS TO THE RECEIVER.

If users do not want to receive email from other members, they may disable the email mechanism.

At this time, The Fish Tank will not send promotional information to members. If The Fish Tank makes a change to this policy, members will be given the option of ‘opting out’ of receiving promotional information.

The Fish Tank reserves the right to contact members regarding account status, changes to the member agreement, and other matters relevant to the Fish Tank service.

4. DISCUSSION FORUMS. All correspondence in The Fish Tank discussion forums will be signed with the member’s ‘Display Name.’ Unless a member provides explicit consent, email addresses will not be given out to other members.

Members should be aware that when they voluntarily disclose personally identifiable information (e.g., user name, e-mail address) on any The Fish Tank discussion forums, that information, along with any substantive information disclosed in the user’s communication, can be collected and correlated and used by third parties and may result in unsolicited messages from other posters or third parties. Such activities are beyond the control of The Fish Tank.

Members also should be aware that The Fish Tank does not use a secure or encrypted connection with members. Account numbers, credit card numbers, or other sensitive information should never be posted to The Fish Tank.

5. COOKIES. Non-personal data is automatically collected through the standard operation of The Fish Tank’s internet servers and through the use of ‘cookies.’ Cookies are small text files a website uses to recognize repeat users, facilitate the user’s ongoing access to the site, and allow a site to track usage behavior that will allow content and usage improvements. Cookies are not programs that come onto a user’s system and damage files. Cookies are required to make full utilization of The Fish Tank site.

5. STATISTICAL INFORMATION. The Fish Tank reserves the right to perform statistical analyses of user behavior and characteristics in order to measure interest in and use of the various areas of the site. The Fish Tank will provide only aggregated data from these analyses to third parties.

6. AMENDMENTS. The Fish Tank reserves the right to change this policy at any time by notifying users of the existence of a new privacy statement.
